The Gospel of Luke & People on the Margins
Oblate Summer School with Tom McGrath
Wistaston Hall, Crewe Monday, July 19th – Thursday, 22nd July.
The Gospel of Luke is at the heart of the current liturgical year and to help us to explore this Gospel we have invited Tom McGrath from Brazil to lead us in this year’s Summer School. During these days we will explore how the Gospel of Luke speaks to the people on the margins and on the edge of today's society. We will also take time to have a look at how the Gospel of Saint Luke affects our community and social lives.
Since going to Brazil in 1969, Tom has been working with basic Christian communities in both rural and urban contexts. Tom is a firm believer in the inherent transforming power of the Word of God. Tom currently works in biblical grass roots animation, mainly with the socially excluded classes of towns and cities and with the people from the camps and settlements of the landless movement in the interior of Brazil.
To enable as wide a participation as is possible we have reserved 20 sponsored places on the Summer School for members of the Oblate Family (i.e people from current or former Oblate parishes and people connected with other Oblate ministries such as MAMI, OYS, chaplaincies or the Lourdes Pilgrimage) The majority of the cost for the reserved places is being met by the OMI Mission Fund so all we ask is that each participant make a donation of £30. If you wish to take part in the Summer School in Crewe please contact the Partners in Mission Office.
A similar event is being organised by the Partners in Faith Agency in Dublin will take place on July 13th & 14th and is non residential.
